I only play Call of duty now for their campaigns. Something I can take away and remember and linger in my thoughts for months or even years. So now I play games for their story, their campaign. But as I've gotten older and work and other responsibilities have entered my life I can no longer spend hours on hours on a game that doesn't give me anything back besides a kill death ratio or games won and lost or any other myriad of other things on your stat screen. Don't get me wrong, I still like multiplayer and even play them from time to time. Multiplayer is a never ending cycle of match after match of killing and dying. This year's Call of Duty is expected to release later this year for unspecified platforms. After playing multiplayer games and spending hours upon hours on them every day I've come to a realization as I've gotten older and more After playing multiplayer games and spending hours upon hours on them every day I've come to a realization as I've gotten older and more mature as a gamer that playing multiplayer, although fun, doesn't have a sense of accomplishment and really won't get you anywhere. However, with Activision's recent Call of Duty DLC timed-exclusivity partnership with Sony, it seems odd that the company would turn around and do this for Xbox One. Having said that, one could see how it could be a smart idea to bring Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 to the Xbox One backward compatibility list, especially as a tactic to boost the sales of the new Call of Duty on the system. There have been plenty of rumors about Infinity Ward's new Call of Duty game, including that it might not be a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts, but again, until official word comes, none of the rumors can be substantiated. Of course, until Activision or Microsoft makes an official announcement, this information should be taken with a grain of salt. It could even be enough to convince those holding out on buying an Xbox One to finally take the plunge, especially when it comes to those that are nostalgic about these games. Furthermore, despite the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is one of the most-requested BC games, the title still has yet to be made available on the service.īringing two of the Xbox 360's most popular shooters (not to mention two of the most critically-acclaimed games of the previous generation) to the Xbox One would be one of the most significant uses of Xbox One backward compatibility yet.

It's worth noting that Activision has not been an active partner with Microsoft when it comes to backward compatibility so far. The rumor comes from website The Tech Game, which sites a "credible source."
